“I hadn’t felt any hope in the two years since Arius was born. But from our very first visit to Shriners Hospitals for Children – Canada, I felt a spark of hope in my heart.”
—Arius’s Mom, Liezel

A Special Game for a Very Special Kid
For six-year-old Arius and his family, the night of September 21 was a celebration of resilience, strength, and hope. Thanks to Spinzo Cares and the Calgary Flames, Arius got to experience the thrill of live hockey and the warmth of a community that cares.
When Arius and his family were invited to attend the Flames game, the excitement was palpable. For a little boy who’s spent more time in hospitals than on playgrounds, stepping into the energy and magic of a professional hockey game was an unforgettable gift. Arius lit up the arena with his signature smile—one that has become familiar to the many doctors, nurses, and staff who have supported his journey.

A Journey Fueled by Determination
Born with an incredibly rare genetic condition, Arius has faced more medical challenges in his young life than most people see in a lifetime. But thanks to the expert care at Shriners Hospitals for Children – Canada, and the generosity of corporate partners like Spinzo and the Flames, he’s learning to walk and thrive.
“I hadn’t felt any hope in the two years since Arius was born,” his mother shared. “But from our very first visit to Shriners Hospitals for Children – Canada, I felt a spark of hope in my heart.”
