Saul is 18 years old and since his first months of life he has been patient of Shriners Children’s Mexico. He was born with ectrodactyly, a congenital condition that affects his hands and feet, causing the absence of some fingers. Despite the physical challenges this represents, Saúl has found in drawing a powerful form of expression and a tool to build his own universe. From an early age, art became its refuge and personal language. Drawing has not only allowed him to communicate emotions and thoughts, but also to develop a very unique style, marked by hyperrealism.
The unconditional support of their parents, together with the dedication of their teachers and therapists, has been key in their growth. The comprehensive care he has received at the hospital, especially through occupational therapy, has been instrumental in strengthening his skills. Thanks to this, Saul has learned to perform daily tasks such as writing and drawing independence and precision.
For Saúl, drawing is much more than an activity: it’s his way of speaking to the world and showing himself as he really is.
