Where It Began
When Amanda Keith and her family moved to Erie, Pennsylvania in 2023, they quickly found a lifeline at Shriners Children’s Erie. Amanda’s son Liam, born with proximal femoral focal deficiency, was welcomed into the hospital’s POPS (Pediatric Orthotic and Prosthetic Services) department. Thanks to expert care, including a custom orthotic brace, Liam can run, swim, and keep up with his active friends.
The specialized care Liam receives at Shriners Children’s Erie, not covered by insurance, left a profound impact on Amanda. Grateful for the life-changing support, she felt called to give back.
Bringing It to Life
As a loan officer with Movement Mortgage, Amanda saw an opportunity to combine her profession with her personal mission. In October 2024, she launched a fundraising initiative in partnership with her employer and 31 Days to Amaze: for every mortgage loan she closed in October, November, and December, Amanda personally donated $100, with Movement Mortgage matching her contribution dollar-for-dollar.
Movement Mortgage quickly embraced Amanda’s idea, reflecting the company’s deep commitment to community service and giving back. Through their matching program, Movement Mortgage doubled Amanda’s donations, helping maximize the impact of each closed loan.
How It Went / The Outcome
By the end of 2024, Amanda and Movement Mortgage had raised a combined total of $4,800 for Shriners Children’s Erie. The campaign not only provided critical support for the hospital’s specialized care but also strengthened the bond between Movement Mortgage and the Erie community.
The Story Continues
Encouraged by the campaign’s early success, Amanda and Movement Mortgage have committed to extend their fundraising efforts through all of 2025. With this expanded effort, they expect to surpass $10,000 in total donations. Liam, inspired by his own journey, has since become a Patient Ambassador, proudly sharing his story with others.
Through 31 Days to Amaze, one mother’s gratitude has grown into a lasting partnership with her employer to support children in the Erie community.
