Where It Began
Since 2011, Jersey Mike’s Month of Giving has served as a powerful example of corporate philanthropy in action, raising over $113 million for charities nationwide. Each March, franchisees and customers come together in support of causes that strengthen their local communities.
Bringing It to Life
In Erie County, Pennsylvania, the spirit of giving was on full display as three Jersey Mike’s locations joined forces to raise funds for Shriners Children’s Erie. Throughout the month of March, customers were invited to round up their purchases and contribute directly to the cause via in-store and mobile app donations. Special promotions kept customers coming back, all building toward the Day of Giving on March 26, when 100% of the day’s sales were donated to local charities.
How It Went
The campaign culminated in a generous $27,000 donation to Shriners Children’s Erie, presented by George Farantzos, owner of the participating Jersey Mike’s locations. These funds directly support pediatric patients receiving orthopedic care—care that many families would otherwise be unable to access. “At Shriners Erie, we provide care for children and their families when they’re in situations where they need that, and we’re able to do that because of Jersey Mikes,” said David Schumaker, director of philanthropy for Shriners Children’s Erie, in an interview with a local news station.
“They’re here for a reason: to help other kids,” echoed Farantzos, “To be able to help in that way, and be able to give back in that way, it’s great.”
The Story Continues
Jersey Mike’s Month of Giving is a testament to the strength of local businesses, their employees, and their customers when united by a common cause. Thanks to the continued support of partners like George Farantzos and the entire Jersey Mike’s team, more children in Erie County will receive life-changing care.
